First of all, since I am sure you’d all love to know, I
would like to announce that the winner of the 15ml bottle of Young Living
Peppermint essential oil is Lizabeth.
Congratulations Lizbeth, we will be contacting you shortly to get your contact info so we can send you your oil.

Since we are on the topic of peppermint oil anyway, I
thought it would be a good idea to share one of our favorite milkshake recipes
because it uses this amazing oil, which not only tastes yummy, but is also
thought to be an appetite suppressant and to support healthy digestion.
It might just be a psychosomatic response, but I
definitely find that smelling or tasting peppermint reduces my cravings and
helps me feel satisfied. I often make
this milkshake in the evening to prevent raiding the freezer for ice-cream.
Now, I am calling this a “guilt-free” milkshake because it
fits the particular parameters that my family tries to work our diet around –
relatively low carb, high fat, high protein, and sugar free. I am generally a food purist and avoid
processed foods whenever possible, but I do have a few areas that I compromise
in for the sake of maintaining my sanity, plus we have some dietary
restrictions in our home.
That said, feel free to make substitutions based upon
your own dietary needs and preferences. I
apologize if stevia and dark chocolate aren’t your thing, but you’ll be
surprised by how good this recipe is even without any added sugar.
½ cup cottage cheese
½ cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 to 2 drops food grade peppermint essential oil (I only
use Young Living)
Stevia to taste
¼ tsp spirulina powder (optional)
1 - 2 cups ice
2 squares dark chocolate (85-90% Cocoa)
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients except the chocolate squares
in your blender in the order written.
Use the appropriate setting on your blender to blend until smooth. Taste the mixture and adjust for sweetness
and flavor as needed. Add the dark
chocolate squares and pulse until the chocolate is chopped into small
chunks.
Makes 1 large serving or 2 reasonably sized servings.
